Word Study

We have started word study in our classroom. Each week we will focus on a word feature/pattern to study. At the beginning of Kindergarten we focus on noticing and hearing the beginning sounds of words. We then will move onto ending sounds, middle vowels, digraphs and blends. Each week we sort picture cards together on the smartboard. During Word Work time, the students sort the pictures independently or with a partner. After we sort them together as a class, I will send home a copy of the picture sort to be cut out and practiced if needed.

Field Trip Information

If you are interested in being a chaperon on the field trip, please send me a note or email by this Monday. We will be picking names out of the hat. If your name is drawn, I will contact you on Tuesday so you can make any arrangements needed! There will be two parents drawn per class. Thank you ahead of time! Also, don't forget to pack a disposable lunch! We will be there for most of the day!

Other News

I will not be sending home Scholastic Book flyers this month since we will have the book fair. If there are some books you saw online and still would like to purchase, let me know and I can place an order next week. You can also order October books in November. If you would ever like to purchase books as a gift (christmas, birthday etc) let me know and I can make sure your child doesn't see it!

Please remember to check and empty your child's folder every night for important information, school work, etc.
